Self-running water work in Vo Mai village, Du Sang commune built since 2006, from communal budget. This work invested 36 million, serving more than 40 households in the village. So far, the work has not been maintenance, pipelines and storage tanks damaged resulting in the number of using households reduced, the water supply was not stable. Many households due to lack of water had to share water from irrigation ditches, which was very poor hygiene.

In 2014, community based group of Vo Mai village planned and conducted maintenance of the ditch work. In 2015, thanks to maintenance knowledge and skills provided by the project, the community based group continued to plan and implement maintenance work. The plan was approved by Du Sang CPC. The maintenance fund supported 15 million Vietnam Dong from the project budget, the villagers contributed 4 million Vietnam Dong in cash and labor. The community based groups and the villagers intended to replace 800m pipe and repair the leak in the ditch on head of water stream. After the maintenance completed, a regulation of using will be set up to ensure equality of using water from the system.

Ms. Bui Thi Dieu, a 38 years-old beneficiary said: “It is often water shortages in the dry season, partly due to deterioration of the system, partly because no regulations on water use. Now my family are using settled water from digging edge ditch, it’s dirty because the next village herbicide on maize lot”./.
